Looking to quit smoking, find or train for a better job? Need housing or assistance finding food, help with rent or heat? The Community Navigator Program (CNP) is a free and confidential service that is offered to help families of Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb and Southport to access emergency assistance or other available resources.

The CNP serves as a single point of contact … don’t know which way to turn or where to go first? Talk through your options with a community navigator.

What does the CNP do?

  • Assist members of our communities who are in need of a little help.

  • Provides case management, technical assistance, financial aid (small grants) and resource coordination, including referrals for

    • family budgeting and financial coaching

    • food assistance

    • healthy living, including substance use and chemical health

    • career counseling and entrepreneurship training

    • charitable health insurance and health marketplace

    • housing counseling & foreclosure prevention

    • volunteer service opportunities.

  • Provides small grants for basic living expenses (e.g., food, housing, fuel and utilities; self-care, including smoking cessation and substance abuse) to help members of our community to reach their potential.

  • Works with your case manager, healthcare provider or other agency to help you make changes to your life.

  • Works with community partners to promote health and prosperity on the peninsula.

How it works...

  • Complete an application for assistance online (at www.boothbayresources.com) or in person (at Suite 227 in the Urgent Care Center on the Lincoln County Health Care – Maine Health St. Andrews Campus, 6 St. Andrews Lane, Boothbay Harbor).

  • Schedule an appointment (M-F, 9:30a-3:30p): call 207-633-6272 or email the CN Assistant at comnavassistant@gmail.com; Amy Winston at brcrcommunitynavigator@gmail.com; or one of our volunteers at comnavvol@gmail.com

    • Expect to spend 30-60 minutes to discuss and prioritize your needs, assess next steps and set or establish a timeline for meeting your goals.

    • We will review your application, create a working agreement, agree on objectives that are right for you, and develop a plan to achieve these goals.

    • Each consultation will focus on immediate and long-term needs designed to solve immediate needs as well as create lasting change.

  • Please note: The purpose of the navigator program is to help strengthen our community. Everyone has something to offer. In exchange for financial assistance, you may be asked to volunteer your time or talent or participate in a budgeting or other skill-building workshop related to your goals.

What the CNP does not do…

The CNP is a small office and does not have the capacity, resources or training at this time to provide specialized or therapeutic counseling services. As more resources become available, the scope of the practice may be reviewed to assure that our community’s needs are met. In the mean time, we will refer you to an appropriate provider.
